Akpinar is a small nomadic village is in the mountains. You can see Akpinar from Lale pension in Egirdir. From Egirdir, it is only 7 km; you can walk there, reaching the village in less than 2 hours. It has a beautiful and fantastic panorama over the Egirdir Lake. High on the steep slopes of Sivri Mountain is the tiny Yoruk village of Akpinar, with apple orchards and photogenic views over the lake. To get there head 3 Km south of Egirdir along the lake-shore road to the suburb of Yeni Mahalle, where a road begins to wind 4 km up the mountain to the village. Its a steep walk, but you might be able to hitch a lift. It takes about two hours if you’re in reasonable shape.
The village has about 50 houses, and sometimes there’s a yurt (tent) selling ayran (yogurt drink) and gozleme. The local people of the village are hospitable. You will have the opportunity to experience real Turkish hospitality, if you try to speak a few Turkish words. The local kids have become accustomed to visitors giving them gifts. It would be a good idea to take a picnic lunch and you can do your shopping down-town before your trip. Also, local children there appreciate small gifts like chocolates and lollipops. Don't forget to take your camera with you, especially wide angle and filter. Serious hikers can continue up to the top of Sivri Mountain, but some of the rocks are unstable so you should take care.
