A historical landmark in Yesilada Greek history is the ‘Church of Ayastafanos’. There were originally 14 Greek Orthodox churches on the island. However, with the departure of the Greeks in 1924, they were pulled down and demolished. As the largest, this is the only remaining church on the island and stands as a reminder of the island's history. The roof of the church was originally constructed from the hull of a boat and a number of coins have in the past been uncovered from the various cracks where they lay undiscovered for decades. Today the church is completely built from stone and recognisable by the familiar arched windows. The church is located on the islands northern side and is not open to the public. However, the small surrounding garden and building itself are worth viewing.
Located in the Yesilada quarter of Egirdir, this Byzantine Orthodox Church was built in the XII century. The ceiling and columns are wood, and the walls are stone.
